Resource inflows

In this chapter resource inflows in terms of the production of own goods are disclosed. This includes all raw materials used such as wood, pulp, waste paper, but also starch, chemicals and packaging materials used in Heinzel Group’s production sites. The overall total weight of products used for production decreased in 2025 because production volumes were lower than in 2024, mainly caused by the low market demand.Waste paper is the primary recycled component used in Heinzel Group’s production processes. Due to the lower production of containerboard in 2025—mainly driven by reduced market demand—the overall use of recycled input materials, including waste paper, also decreased compared to 2024.The share of renewable or recycled materials used increased in 2025 due to the product shift from magazine paper to containerboard at the Laakirchen site. Magazine paper relied on non-renewable additives such as calcium carbonate and clay, whereas containerboard production uses a higher proportion of renewable materials. As a result, the change in product grade led to an overall increase in the share of renewable inputs. In general, the material basis remained largely renewable, as wood, starch, and pulp continue to be the main raw materials used.
