Actions and resources related to water and marine resources

Water savings continued to be strengthened across Heinzel Group’s production sites in 2025. At heinzelpöls, reallocation work in the cooling water system revealed issues related to water volume and pressure. Increasing return temperatures enabled a more efficient use of the cooling water circuit, improving the stability of steam turbine 4 and allowing higher electricity generation. The ongoing “Compressor Cooling-Water Control” project at the Pöls site is advancing additional reductions in freshwater withdrawal. This project adjusts the cooling-water supply based on temperature-dependent demand and is expected to achieve savings of around 40 m³ per hour once fully implemented during an upcoming maintenance cycle. At heinzelpaper, conversion of a freshwater pump to frequencycontrolled operation improved flow regulation and resulted in reduced electricity consumption. These actions reflect the group’s continued efforts to enhance efficient water use and contribute to progress toward its long-term freshwater reduction target.
